Advancing Aviation Together – Strengthening International Research Synergies

Following the successful launch of the International JoinED Call 2025/26, the AREANA Project and the Signatories of the AREANA Synergy MoU Group are pleased to announce an upcoming online Information Event titled “Shaping the Future of Aviation – Multinational Collaborations and Aviation Synergies.”

In support of a stronger cooperation in Aviation Research the Signatories of the AREANA Synergy MoU Group have agreed to publish their first JoinED Call, to be applicable for funding programmes starting after 15th October 2025 which are able to deliver a preliminary funding indication till latest 31st of October 2026 (individual national/regional deadlines apply, refer to national/regional official procedures!).

On September 10th, 2025, the third meeting of the AREANA Synergy Signatory Group General Assembly was held in The Hague, hosted by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (MIENW). This was the first physical gathering of the Assembly, following two previous online sessions.

On November 12, 2025, the Take Off Insights 2025 event will bring together leading experts, industry stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers for a one-day programme dedicated to advancing aviation research, technology development, and innovation.

The 3rd General Assembly Meeting of the AREANA Synergy MoU Group (ASMG) will take place on 10 September 2025, in The Hague. The eight Signatories of the AREANA Synergy MoU will meet to continue the implementation of Synergy solutions developed within the AREANA project, including preparations for the upcoming “JoinED Call.”

During the Aerodays in Warsaw earlier this year, the AREANA Synergy Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed. What began with seven signatories has since expanded, as UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) joined in July 2025, bringing the total to eight ministries and funding programmes representing five European countries (Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and the United Kingdom).

Warsaw, May 2025 — At this year’s highly anticipated Aerodays 2025, the EU-funded AREANA project marks a significant milestone in European aviation research by the successful launch of the “AREANA Synergy MoU.”

This new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is designed to foster sustainable synergies and deeper collaboration within the European Aviation Research ecosystem.

The AREANA project is set to play a key role in the major upcoming Aerodays 2025, Europe’s leading event for aviation research and innovation, taking place in Warsaw, 7-9^th of May.

AREANA is dedicated to advancing European aeronautics research by developing and implementing innovative methodologies to enhance international cooperation. As part of this mission, AREANA is launching a Framework Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer interested countries an opportunity to engage in and shape these new cooperation models.
